Int’l Women’s Day celebrated at Shopian

Shopian : The Chief Education Office Shopian in collaboration with Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Shopian on Wednesday organised a function at DIET to commemorate ‘International Women’s Day’.
The function was attended by Chief Education Officer Shopian, Mohammad Mushtaq, Principal DIET Shopian Ab Majid, Principal Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Shopian, Afrooza; District Cultural Coordinator Khursheed Ahmad and teaching, non teaching staff of the Education Department.
The function was formally inaugurated by Chief Education Officer Shopian.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Education Officer said women have proven themselves in all the spheres of life and have excelled in every field, be it science and technology, politics, Administration. He said woman is a wonderful creation of God and every other creature is dependent on her. Women as mother, sister and daughter always nurture the society with utmost love and care.
Principal DIET Shopian, Ab Majid emphasized on women empowerment and strongly recommended elimination of gender inequality.
Many other teachers including Nuzhat Rehman, Asma Hassan, Maymoona Akhter threw light on multiple aspects of women empowerment and gender equality.
The function concluded with the speech of Principal, Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Shopian who emphasized upon the role of the women and added that women are capable to achieve anything by their will power and determination.
Chief Education Officer Shopian also addressed the grievances and suggestions forwarded by many of the participating female teachers.
