Srinagar : To commemorate celebration of International Women’s Day, the Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development (IMPA&RD), Srinagar, organized a special lecture on International Women Day.
The day is being celebrated as a focal point in the women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
Dr. Jahan Ara Jabeen, Director Trainings IMPA&RD, Kashmir, while speaking on the occasion, emphasized that it is necessary for young girls and women to break all the shackles impeding their progress and prosperity. “Fear is restrictive and hence it is imperative that women should rise above narrow mindedness and prove their abilities”, she added.
She appreciated the hard work and determination of students who qualified NET and JRF, State Level and National Level exams besides lady officers and officials who worked hard to achieve positions in different government and private organizations. This is a reminder of progress we have made towards the gender equity and also a call to action to continue the work that still needs to be done to empower women and girls, she added.
“As government employee we have the responsibility to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. We must work towards creating policies and progress that support women’s rights and ensure that they have access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. Let us commit ourselves to create a society where women are valued, respected and treated as equal”, she maintained.
On the occasion, Nighat Amin, Course Coordinator Secretariat Assistant Training Course, also highlighted the role of women and thanked all the participants and officers for attending the function.
