Rajouri : ARTO Rajouri Shammi Kumar along with his team conducted extensive checking drive on two consecutive days on Rajouri-Kalakote, Rajouri Bakori and Raiouri-Thannamandi areas.
He stated that following complaints received from general public regarding overcharging of fare and overloading in these routes, MVD Rajouri laid a special naka.
He emphasized that the special focus was on installation of Speed Limit devices in vehicles, overloading as well as overcharging in passengers vehicles.
During the course of checking, the ARTO enquired from the passengers about fare being charged. He also assured the public that strict action will be initiated against the violators as per norms of the Motor Vehicle Act.
During the extensive checking, the team checked 170 vehicles out of which 28 vehicles were challaned for different traffic violations and six vehicles which were found without valid fitness certificates and without HSRP were seized and kept at P/S Rajouri. Besides, fine amounting to Rs. 26000/- was also recovered on spot from the violators.
The ARTO also sensitized drivers about traffic rules and road safety measures and asked them to ply vehicles on road with valid documents and appealed them to follow the traffic rules to ensure their safety as well as safety of others.
