Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested eight persons on charges of involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and also seized eight vehicles in Budgam & Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Budgam, a police party of Police Station Budgam at a checkpoint established at Karipora Crossing intercepted 04 vehicles carrying illegally extracted minerals and seized all the vehicles besides arresting the drivers identified as Mohd Yasin Ganie S/O Ghulam Rasool, Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie S/O Mohd Ramzan, Parvaiz Ahmad Ganie S/O Mohd Ramzan Ganie, all residents of Kakan Maran Budgam and Mohd Rafiq Dar S/O Manzoor Ahmad Dar R/O Bapora Budgam.
Stating that In Baramulla district a police party of PP Mirgund under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohammad Nawaz seized two vehicles (a Tractor & a Tipper) and arrested two persons at Khanpeth Mirgund Pattan for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police in it’s statement said that the said accused were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Guroo S/O Gh Mohammad Guroo R/O Maloora Srinagar and Mohammad Qasim Dar S/O Gh Mohammad Dar R/O Chenabal Mirgund.
Police in it’s statement further said that in a similar action at Delina Ghat Baramulla, a police party led by In-charge PP Delina under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla seized two vehicles (a Tractor & a Tipper) and arrested two persons for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. Stating that the said accused were identified as Shahzad Ahmad Dar S/O Gh Mohd Dar R/O Jalsheeri Baramulla and Javid Ahmad Lone S/O Ab Khaliq Lone R/O Delina Ghat, Police in the concluding para of it’s statement said that all the accused persons have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody, Stating therein further that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.
Police in it’s statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
