Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar Police said that a Police party of PC Nillow at a checkpoint established at Main Chowk Nillow intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee after noticing police party but was apprehended tactfully, Stating therein further that the accused persons have been identified as Abdul Rashid Dar S/o Ghulam Nabi Dar R/o Nillow. Police in it’s also said that during checking, has recovered 4.2 Kgs of poppy straw concealed in a bag from his possession.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 25/2023 has been registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
