Dir Agri-(K) inaugurates distribution of Vegetable Seedlings raised under Hi-tech polyhouses

Srinagar : The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal on Monday inaugurated distribution of vegetable seedlings raised as per scientific lines under hi-tech poly house conditions at vegetable farm Kupwara.
Speaking to the farmers, the Director Agriculture said that the department is vigorously pursuing the ambitious target of providing seedlings of different vegetable crops to the farmers of the valley and in this direction the department has already introduced many initiatives.
Director Agriculture appreciated the efforts of the concerned officers/officials of vegetable farm Kupwara and asked the concerned officers to organize farmers awareness cum training programmes with the focus on vegetable cultivation so that more and more farmers, Educated youth could adopt this on commercial lines.
Iqbal said that valley wide seedling distribution will continue in a phased manner. He said demand for vegetable seedling is increasing every year as backyard farming and kitchen garden cultivation is increasing which is an encouraging trend for the overall development of the agriculture sector.
Director Agriculture was accompanied by Chief Agriculture officer Kupwara Ghulam Mohammad Dhobi, District Agriculture Officer Kupwara Tej Pal Singh and other senior officers of the department.
Awareness camp (IEC) regarding ULPIN and “Aap Ki Zameen Aap Ki Nigrani” at Town Hall Tangmarg.
