Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested 10 gamblers in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar police said that while acting on a specific inputs about gambling activities in Chewa Kharud, a police party from PS Pulwama raided the gambling site and arrested 10 gamblers, Stating therein further that the accused have been identified as Mohd Ashraf Bhat R/o Prichoo Pulwama, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat R/o Bagi Mehtab Srinagar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat S/o Ab Rehman Bhat R/o Chanapora, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani S/o Fatah Mohammad Wani R/o Monghama Pulwama, Feroz Ahmad Malik S/o Ab Aziz Malik R/o Chadoora, Ashiq Ahmad Sofi S/o Gh Mohd Sofi R/o Rainawari Srinagar, Mehraj Ahmad Malla S/o Khazir Mohammad Malla R/o Sumbal, Anwar ul Haq S/o Akbar ud Din R/o Tangpora Srinagar, Tariq Ahmad Sheikh S/o Sonaullah Sheikh R/o Shalpora Aloch Bagh and Younis Ahmad Zarger S/o Nazir Ahmad Zarger R/o 90 feet Soura. Police in it’s statement further said that it has also seized stake money of ?3,96,200 and playing cards from the gamblers.
Stating that it has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 45/2023 under relevant sections of law in Police Station Pulwama and further investigation has been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed to share information about the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
