Anantnag: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Anantnag in collaboration with the District Administration Saturday organized a District level Youth Parliament at Bijbehara.
The event was held under the National Young Leadership Programme (NYLP) scheme and was themed ‘Celebration of India’s G20 Presidency: Vasudeva Kutumbakam and One Earth, One Family, One Future’.
A large number of youth participated in the event, which was held at Public School English Medium.
The objective of the programme was to develop leadership qualities among the youth, enabling them to realize their full potential and contribute to the nation building process. It also aimed to motivate the youth to strive for excellence in their respective fields and bring them to the forefront of the development process, harnessing the immense youth energy for national-building.
Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag, was the chief guest at the event. Mohd Ramzan Dar, Principal of Public School English Medium, was the guest of honour.
In his address to youth, the ADC highlighted the importance of celebrating India’s G20 Presidency. He further added that the country is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and has entered Amrit Kaal, the 25-Year-long march to 100 years of its freedom from colonial rule.
He said it is a ripe opportunity for India to exhibit its worldview and national interest and establish its position as a superpower. He thanked NYK Anantnag for organizing such a great programme, in which the youth of our country participated with their views on the topic of India’s G20 Presidency. In his interaction with the youth, he also motivated them to participate in such programs, where their thoughts can become the vision of India.
Mohd Khalil Mir, Deputy Director of NYK Anantnag elaborated on the role and work of NYK, as well as the importance of celebrating the G20 presidency under the District Neighborhood Youth Parliament at Anantnag. He further added that a key element of India’s G20 presidency will be taking the G20 closer to the public and making it truly a ‘People’s G20’.
To realize this, citizen engagement and large-scale public participation through various Jan Bhagidari activities are planned throughout the year, he added.
A large number of youth from Youth Clubs, Mahila Mandal, and Public School English Medium participated with great enthusiasm.
The first session focused on the importance of India’s G20 presidency, while the second and third sessions focused on the International Year of Millets, with the resource person highlighting the use of millet as food crops. The fourth session featured a cultural programme on the old-age tradition of Athithi Devo Bhav, showcasing the unique culture of the Anantnag District and highlighting its rich heritage, performed by students from Public School English Medium Bijbehara.
