J&K Police conducts mock drill of Jammu Marathon 2023 at Jammu

Jammu : Jammu & Kashmir Police on Saturday conducted the mock drill of Run for Fun “Jammu Marathon – 2023” at Gulshan Ground Jammu. The mock drill was conducted in presence of the organizing Secretary of the event Ms. Nisha Nathiyal, DIG Armed Jammu and other Senior Police Officers, CST Coaches associated with the conduct of the event.
According to a statement issued from J&K Armed Police Headquarters Jammu, the Run for Fun “Jammu Marathon – 2023” which is scheduled to be organized by Jammu & Kashmir Police on 5th March (Sunday) at Gulshan Ground Jammu under Civic Action Programme of Jammu & Kashmir Police shall be flagged-off by Addl.. Director General of Police Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh whereas Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh shall grace the presentation ceremony in which he will present the prizes to the winners of the Marathon at 1000 hours on the same day at the same venue.
The flag-off ceremony shall begin with the first category of the event viz 21 Kms Half Marathon (Men) at 0645 hours from Gulshan Ground Jammu, whereafter other ten categories of the Marathon shall be flagged-off from the same venue one after another.
The route for first category viz 21 Kms Half Marathon (Men) has been earmarked upto Hill View Honda (near Bajalta Crossing and back). Similarly, the turning point for second, third, fourth, fifth & sixth categories of the Marathon viz 10 Kms Road Race (Women) above 18 Years, 10 Kms Road Race (Boys) under 18 years, 10 Kms Road Race (Girls) Under 18 Years, 10 Kms Veteran (Men) above 45 Years, 10 Kms Veteran (Women) above 45 Years has been earmarked as Environmental Park (near Mohaomayia Rope Way and back) whereas. Forest Check post and back and Crossing NH44 Narwal and back has been earmarked for seventh and eighth category viz 5 Kms Sub-Junior (Boys) under 14 years and 4 Kms Sub-Junior (Girls) under 14 years respectively. The route allotted both for ninth and tenth categories viz 2 Kms Specially abled (Male) Afoot only & 2 Kms Specially abled (Female) Afoot only earmarked is Police Station Bahu-Fort via Balidhan Stumb and back. However, the route earmarked for eleventh category viz: 3 Kms Run for Fun (open for all) Senior Citizen (Men/ Women/ Children) shall be Gulshan Ground towards Bikram Chowk via Police Line/ Panama Chowk to Gulshan Ground.
All the people desirous to participate in the Marathon have been asked to reach at Gulshan Ground Jammu at 0500 Hours on March 05, 2023 (Sunday) to collect the Chest Numbers and thereafter participate in their respective registered events as per the programme. An amount of Rs.6.37 Lakhs has been earmarked as cash prizes for the winners of different categories of the Marahton which shall be distributed during the presentation ceremony by the Chief Guest Dilbag Singh, DGP J&K. The presentation ceremony shall follow a raffle draw of the Chest Numbers in which one Bicycle each shall be presented to the first, second and third lucky winners of the raffle draw. Adequate arrangements have been put-in place for the smooth conduct of the event.
