6 drug peddlers held in across valley; Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested 6 drug peddlers in various incidents in Kashmir valley and recovered huge quantity contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said that a Police party of PS Tarzoo at a checkpoint established at Wagub Crossing intercepted a car bearing registration number JK02CR-6104 with three persons onboard identified as Zahoor Ahmad Malik S/o Sonaullah Malik R/o Wadipora Handwara, Towseef Ahmad Lone S/o Muhammad Sultan Lone R/o Sidhra Jammu and Kamran Mushtaq Lone S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Lone R/o Maloora HMT Srinagar and during searches recovered 6.70 grams of Heroine from their possession and subsequently they were arrested and vehicle used in commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that in a similar action Shopian also, a police party of PS Keller arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohd Asif Mir S/o Abdul Rashid Mir R/o Hergam alongwith 480 grams of Charas Powder from his possession following which he wasshifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement further said that in yet another similar action in Kulgam a police party of PS Yaripora at a checkpoint established at Humshalibugh arrested a drug peddler identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Nengroo S/o Ghulam Mohammad Nengroo R/o Badroo and during searches recovered 2.5 Kgs of Ganja & 270 grams of Charas from his possession. Police in its above referred statement also said that while establishing another checkpoint at Kanjikulla Crossing, a police party arrested a drug peddler identified as Yawer Ahmad Ganie S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie R/o Tengjan and during search, 2 Kgs of Ganja and 100 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession.
Stating further that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and said that persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
