The launch of 5G internet services ahead of the much hyped G20 meetings in Jammu & Kashmir has come at the right time as G20 meetings of global representatives is likely to be held within a month or so and this year’s tourist season is about to commence within a short span of few weeks. Though in view of the last year’s massive tourist inflow in Jammu & Kashmir the 5G internet services should have been rolled out the time when it was launched in selected cities across the country but even then it is not too late for the Jammu & Kashmir to get access to 5G internet services this time also. Given the fact that roll out of 5G was not needed just before the key meetings of G20 global representatives and commencement of this year’s tourist season in Jammu & Kashmir but it was also a priority for ease in ways of doing businesses and boosting the digitisation already introduced in the delivery of key public services during last three years across Jammu & Kashmir. Prompt delivery of public services after 5G roll out won’t just bring respite to only local populations in Jammu & Kashmir but it would also sent out a good message about the working of latest communication gadgets in Jammu & Kashmir which probably is the concern and priority of the majority of tourists tending to visit Kashmir in coming summer season this year and also the students interested in –learning for the purposes of better performance in competitive examination. As health is always a priority for both the tourists and as well as the local populations, neither the tourists nor the local populations will find accessibility to telemedicine facilities an issue of concern now in Jammu & Kashmir. While the 5G roll out would surely ease the delivery of some key public services for both the tourists and as well as the local populations in Jammu & Kashmir, the major concerns of people deserving the attention and intervention of the Government is the working of digital payment transaction system in Jammu & Kashmir. Unfortunately the bank transaction apps are not working well in Jammu & Kashmir as many a times in last two years bank transaction apps turning to a non functional mode for days together hit newspaper headlines and more so in case of Jammu & Kashmir Bank but no prompter corrective measures were taken by the authorities to improve the working of digital transaction system of the banks .
“Without removing the bottlenecks in the digitisation of services and public facilities for the purposes of implementation of 5G internet services in the working of all the business and trading outlets particularly banks and fuel service stations besides the Government’s own public facility centres like hospitals and educational institution the Jammu & Kashmir can’t be showcased as desired destination for tourists and industrial development within and outside the country”.
The inability of the IT Cell of Jammu & Bank and several other nationalised banks operating in Jammu & Kashmir to upgrade their digital transaction system is a major concern for local populations not to talk of tourists. Workers at the petrol pump denying money transaction though one or the other bank transaction app is equally another major concern which the authorities don’t take serious enough to stop occurrence and re-occurence of such bad trends. Without removing the bottlenecks in the digitisation of services and public facilities for the purposes of implementation of 5G internet services in the working of all the business and trading outlets particularly banks and fuel service stations besides the Government’s own public facility centres like hospitals and educational institution the Jammu & Kashmir can’t be showcased as desired destination for tourists and industrial development within and outside the country.
