Career Counseling Prog for Civil Service Aspirants held at Amar Singh College

Srinagar : Guidance, Counselling and Coaching Cell, Cluster University Srinagar, in collaboration with Amar Singh College Thursday organised a one day Career Counseling programme for the students belonging to various colleges of Cluster University Srinagar and civil service aspirants at Amar Singh College, here on Thursday.
The theme of the programme was “Civil Services: A Viable Career Option for Public Services”.
Khurshid Ahmad Ganie, former Advisor to the J&K Government; Mohammad Aijaz Assad, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam were the invited speakers in the programme.
On the occasion, the speakers shared their wide experiences and expertise with the students.
In his lecture, Khurshid Ahmad Ganie gave a comprehensive presentation to the students on the necessity of qualifying the civil services examinations like KAS and IAS for a better career choice and effective public contribution.
He informed the students that having academic degrees is not enough, but what is needed is focus, hard-work and full dedication. He provided tips on the various books, reading material and resources that students need to access for qualifying the exams like IAS and KAS.
Mohammad Aijaz advised the students to inculcate passion and motivation for qualifying the Civil Service exa He said that one can render noble service to the society through Civil Services even in an increasingly corporate driven world. He acknowledged that such interactions are very important and beneficial for our youth.
Dr.Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat who also happens to be an ex-student of Amar Singh College, revealed that he got the motivation to qualify civil services from his teachers at the College. He exhorted the students to focus on set goals by evolving a proper strategy to qualify civil service exa He underscored the need to constantly put in efforts at an opportune time to qualify the same.
In his presidential address, Prof.Qayuum Hussain, Vice-Chancellor Cluster University Srinagar, emphasized on the value of guiding the students towards better career choices like Civil Services. He stressed upon the students to work harder to achieve their goals.
He reiterated the Cluster University’s commitment of providing quality education and preparing students for future challenges. He informed the students about his future plans to establish a residential coaching academy for Civil Services in the Cluster University Srinagar.
Earlier, Principal, Amar Singh College, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Rather welcomed all the dignitaries and participants to the event. He highlighted the series of ongoing initiatives and programmes organized by Amar Singh College for the career counselling of students.
He also outlined how there is an aura of excitement in the country in relation to the G20 Presidency and how it motivates our students to assume the future leadership roles.
The programme was moderated by Dr.KounsarMuzamil, Head, Department of Urdu, Amar Singh College.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. ShaziaMushtaq, co-convener Guidance, Counseling and Coaching Cell, Cluster University Srinagar.
