Kishtwar : In a first, the youth of Panchayat Upper-Palmar got a Turf Cricket Pitch developed under MGNREGA, which was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav on his day-long tour of the area on Wednesday.
DC Kishtwar congratulated the youth of Upper-Palmar for the development of the sports asset. He emphasized that this new addition would provide an excellent opportunity for the young sportsmen and women to enhance their talent and compete efficiently with other parts of the J&K in the sports sector. He further added that the cricket pitches would be highly advantageous to the youth and sports persons in hilly areas.
In addition to inaugurating the turf cricket pitch, DC Kishtwar handed over a sports kit to the youth and planted a Chinar sapling at Upper Palmar. Moreover, he inaugurated the Community Sanitation Centre under SBM, which could be utilized by the community at large.
He also presided over the Weekly Block Diwas programme at Panchayat Upper Palmar and attentively listened to the grievances of the locals. The residents of the area appreciated the Deputy Commissioner for organizing the Block Diwas Programme for the first time in this remote area. They shared their various issues and complaints with the DC, including the need for a health centre and the establishment of extension centres under FSC&CA, as well as the sanctioning of timber for the construction of houses.
After patiently listening to them, he assured them that their genuine demands had been noted down and would be addressed within a set time frame. He also informed them that a proposal had been submitted for new ST food extension centres in the ST areas.
During the programme, he emphasized the significance of education in this competitive world and urged parents to strive for their children’s education. He encouraged the locals and PRIs to work together in synergy to formulate the Developmental Plan of the panchayat by including projects of public importance.
He urged the youth and PRIs to cooperate with the administration to enhance the developmental tempo of the panchayats and achieve new heights. Additionally, he reminded the locals to maintain cleanliness in the panchayats and informed them that sanitation works were underway in each panchayat of the Kishtwar district, which could be instrumental in effectively achieving the objectives of SBM at the ground level.
DC Kishtwar inspected GHS Patimhala and interacted with teachers to enquire about the learning outcome of the children. He also conducted a surprise visit of Health and Wellness Centre (HWC) Patimhalla, where he inspected the health functionals and listened to the grievances of the staff regarding infrastructure and medical equipment. The DC assured them of redressal at the earliest and instructed the staff to deliver services with dedication, punctuality, and honesty.
