Srinagar : Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested seven persons for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Budgam and Baramulla districts and also seized 7 vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said that in Budgam district, PS Chadoora received inputs about illegal extraction of soil from Government land by some unknown persons at Hayatpora Chadoora following whicj a police party of Police Station Chadoora seized 3 clay laden tippers and arrested 3 persons on spot identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Ahad Dar R/o Rawalpora, Danish Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Muhammad Bhat R/o Gowherpora & Mehraj-Ud-Din Wani S/o Mohammad Yousuf Wani R/o Zolwa.
Stating that in a similar action in Baramulla district also, a police party led by SHO PS Kunzer under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Javid Ahmad during naka checking at Tarhama Kunzer arrested 3 persons and seized 3 vehicles on finding them involved in illegal extraction and transportation of mineral from Ferozpora Nallah Kunzer Baramulla, Police in it’s statement said that those arrested have been identified as Abdul Khaliq Rah S/o Ab Rahman R/o Nundreshi Colony Bemina, Dawood Ahmad Malla S/o Bashir Ahmad R/o Aboora & Zubair Ahmad Wani S/o Hafizullah Wani R/o Katchmatpora.
Meanwhile Police also said that in yet another similar action a police party under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri Khalid Ashraf assisted by Incharge PP Wagoora, during routine patrolling at Ningli Nallah Wagoora arrested one person and seized a vehicle involved in illegal extraction and transportation of mineral from Ningli Nallah Wagoora, Stating therein further that the said accused has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Bhat S/o Late Abdul Ahad R/o Wagoora Kreeri.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that all the accused persons have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody and cases under relevant sections of law stands registered against them at respective police stations.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police said that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
