Srinagar : Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested 3 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession in south Kashmir’s Kulgam disrict.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on a specific inputs about gambling activities at Chirhama Mirbazar, a police party headed by Incharge PP Mirbazar raided the suspected gambling site and apprehended three gamblers identified as Zahoor Ahmad Ganie S/o Ghulam Hassan Ganie R/o Zadoora, Bumthan, Manzoor Ahmad Lone S/o Ghulam Mohammad Lone and Zahoor Ahmad Lone S/o Mohammad Maqbool Lone, both residents of Lalipora Malpora.
Stating that stake money of Rs 4,440, three mobile phones and playing cards were also seized from the gamblers, Police in it’s statement further said that it has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 27/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police station Qazigund and further investigation has been also initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law but appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
