7-drug peddlers arrested in Bla & Kulgam, Contraband substances also recovered :Police

Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested 7 drug peddlers in Baramulla & Kulgam districts and also recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said that in Baramulla, a police party led by SHO PS Sheeri under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Baramulla Sajjad Bukhari during naka checking at NHW Gantamulla arrested three drug peddlers identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Mir S/o Ghulam Hassan Mir R/o Chijhama Rafiabad, Ashiq Hussain Najar S/o Altaf Hussain Najar R/o Shougpora and Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ghulam Ahmad R/o Dardpora Kupwara A/P Rangwar Baramulla. Stating that during checking, 22 grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from the possession of the above named accused, Police in it’s statement said that the accused were shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said that in a similar action officers led by SHO PS Pattan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz at a checkpoint established at Buran Railway Crossing Pattan intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05B-2156 with two persons on board and during searches recovered 250 Spasmo-Proxyvon tablets and 23 Codeine Phosphate bottles from their possession. Stating that the accused have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Sada S/o Mohd Subhan Sada R/o Pattan and Ajaz Ahmad Dar S/o Habibulla Dar R/o Shalteng Srinagar , Police in it’s statement furthermore said that the above named accused were also arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Stating therein further that the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Revealing that in yet another similar action in Kulgam district a police party led by SHO PS Yarpora while acting on specific inputs about transportation of drugs established multiple checkpoints at different places and at one such checkpoint established at Behibrada one vehicle (Load Carrier) bearing registration number JK03J-1593 was intercepted. Stating that during checking, 12Kgs of grinded Cannabis like substance and 11 bottles of Cofmaster C were recovered from the vehicle, Police in it’s statement said that the accused driver of the vehicle identified as Riyaz Ahmad Malla S/o Mohd Yaseen Malla R/o Khanabal Anantnag was arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime too was seized.
Furthermore Police also said that in an another similar action at a checkpoint established at Kokergund crossing, a police party arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohd Shafi Nadaf S/o Abdul Majeed Nadaf R/o Yaripora and recovered 12 bottles of Cofmart CD from his possession. Stating that both the drug peddlers have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and reiterated that pople found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
