Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested 3 persons and also seized 5 vehicles who were involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said that PS Beerwah received inputs about illegal activities of extraction and transportation of mineral from Nallah Sukhnag by some persons at village Kanigund and deputed a police party which raided the specific location and seized 5 tractors and arrested 3 drivers on spot however, 2 drivers fled from the spot.
Stating that the arrested drivers have been identified as Shahid Ahmad Shah S/O Bashir Ahmad R/O Takiya Lalpora, Shabir Ahmad Lone S/O Ghulam Ahmad and Hilal Ahmad Bhat S/O Gh Mohammad, both residents of Mashun, Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 28/2023 has been under relevant sections of law at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has also been taken up.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
