4 drug peddlers arrested in 3 Valley distts, contraband substances also recovered : Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla, Kulgam and Handwara districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said that in Baramulla, a police party led by Incharge Police Post Waogoora under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri Khalid Ashraf during patrolling in village Nowpora Kreeri arrested a drug peddler identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Lone S/O Mohd Maqbool Lone R/O Nowpora Kreeri. Police in it’s statement also said that during search, 7.5Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance carrying in a bag was recovered from the possession of the above named accused shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in a similar action in Kulgam district a Police Party headed by SHO PS DH Pora during patrolling at Ahmadabad Lasipora Crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and during searches 15Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered from his possession, Police in it’s statement said that the accused has been identified as Mohd Yaqoob Thoker S/O Ghulam Mohd Thoker R/O Ahmadabad DH Pora.
Police in the above referred statement further said that in yet another similar action in Qazigund Kulgam a police party led by SHO PS Qazigund during naka checking on NHW at Bonigam intercepted a suspicious person and recovered 290 grams of Charas like substance from his possession. Stating that the accused has been identified Irshad Ahmad Bhat S/O Mohd Maqbool Bhat R/O YK Pora and subsequently arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.
“In Handwara also, a police party of Police Station Kralgund during naka checking at Ganapora crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.”, reads the above referred police statement, adding that “during searches around 34 grams of Charas like substance from the possession of the said accused identified as Javid Ahmad Mir S/O Mohd Sadiq R/O Langate”. Police on this occasion said that the above named accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that it has accordingly registered a cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated, Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
