Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two persons in north Kashmir’s district Baramulla who were involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and also seized 2 vehicles on spot.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz assisted by incharge PP Mirgund seized two Tractors for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Mirchimar Mirgund Pattan, Stating therein further that two drivers identified as Mohd Akbar Lone S/O Gh Mohi Ud Din Lone R/O Hanjiwera and Javid Ahmad Chopan S/O Gh Hassan Chopan R/O Shirpora Pattan were also arrested for their involvement in the commission of crime. Police in it’s statement also said that a case under relevant sections of law in Police Station Pattan and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police said that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law and also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
