Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has organised an awareness programme on “Prevention of Drug Addiction” here at District Police Lines Budgam. The programme was organised on the directions of SSP Budgam Tahir Gilani and this program was attended by 40 students of Spring Buds Higher Secondary School Ompora and Bright Horizon School Sheikhpora.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar the programme began with a lecture by incharge Drug De-addiction Centre DPL Budgam Insha Hassan on drug addiction and preventive measures thereof and her address was followed by a debate competition on drug addiction in which 12 students participated. Police said that the 1st position was collectively shared by Haiqa Gul of Bright Horizon School and Aiman Farooz of Spring Buds School. 2nd and 3rd position bagged by Riza Lateef and Tamanna Shah of Bright Horizon School respectively. 4th position was collectively shared by Hami Javid and Humaira Sheraaz of Spring Buds School. Later on, an awareness rally against drug abuse was also held within the premises of DPL Budgam. The participants thanked Police for conducting such awareness programs and building a bridge of trust between police and the youth.
