There was no report of any loss of life or injury to any person due to the avalanche that hit the Rezin Gagangeer this evening, they said. The Srinagar-Sonamarg road has also been blocked due to the landslides.
Rescue Teams of District Police, SDRF, and CRPF are at the spot. Senior Officers of Revenue and Police are also present on the spot and monitoring the situation closely.
The area has been cleared, and residents of the affected area have been moved to safer places, officials said adding the National Highway will be cleared with the help of Beacon authorities.
The authorities have also issued cell numbers in case of any emergency or information.
The Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) on Sunday issued a low danger level avalanche warning for four districts of Kashmir valley including Ganderbal and advised people living in specified areas of above 2500 metres to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas till further directions.
