Illegal extraction, transportation of minerals: 4 accused held, 4 vehicles seized, Says Police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested four accused persons and also seized four vehicles used for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Baramulla and Budgam districts respectively.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party of PS Kunzer under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg during naka checking at Chichiloora Kunzer seized two vehicles (Tippers) for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Chichiloora Kunzer, Stating therein further that the ‘two accused drivers identified as Adil Ahmad Shah S/O Ali Mohammad rR/O Takia Gonipora and Abdul Hamid Mir S/O Mohd Shaban Mir R/O Mangloora were arrested.
Stating that in a similar kind of action in Budgam, Police Station Beerwah received an information about extraction of soil from government land by some people at Bundgam area of district Budgam, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that on receiving the said inputs a police party of police station Beerwah swung into the action and seized two soil laden tractors from the specific spot and also arrested both the drivers, Stating therein further that the duo have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Malik R/O Soibugh and Mukhtar Ahmad Dar S/O Muhammad Maqbool R/O Nasrullahpora. Police in it’s statement furthermore said that all the accused persons have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigation has been also initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
