The decision of shifting the Examination Session from October-November to March-April has brought the time management at the centre of examination and admission processes in schools across Kashmir due to the fact time is now a crucial factor for both conducting examination and as well as announcing the results in short time for the purposes of commencing the admissions of students in next higher classes in short span of less than a month. True it is that both the School Education Department and as well as the J&K Board Of School Education (J&K BOSE) have announced the date sheets for the examinations almost 20 days before the reopening of schools in Kashmir but announcement of date sheets is just the commencement of the examination but not their completion. From the first day of the commencement of examinations both the parents and as well as the student in view of the past experiences will have deeper concerns about the postponement of one or the other paper due to leakage of the question papers or the complaints about the mass copying at some examination centres. While it is the duty of Jammu & Kashmir Board Of School Education (J&K BOSE) to take all appropriate measures for reducing the chances of the leakage of question papers of both class 10 and class 12 examinations, the onus of completing the examinations without any complaints of unfair means from primary to upper middle classes lies on the heads of both Government and Private schools across Kashmir. Never forget that postponement of any paper of class 10 and class 12 examinations due to leakage of paper or complaints of mass copying at one or the other examination centre would consequently unprecedentedly delay the announcement of results as a result of which students of these classes won’t be taking admissions in next higher classes in short time. The issue of greater concern for both the parents and as well as the students is that delay in results by J&K BOSE would also give way to new concerns about preparation of students for NEET Examination annually held for admissions in Engineering and Medical Colleges across the country.
It is for the Director School Education Kashmir to make both the examination and admission processes time bound in cooperation and coordination with the authorities of J&K Board Of School Education. The completion of both the examination and admission processes in short time this year without any complaints of misconduct would probably prove detrimental for the shifting of examination session from March-April to October-November. It is indeed testing time for both the Director School Education Kashmir and as well as Chairman J&K Board of School Education (J&K BOSE).
While it is for the students to cooperate with the teachers in the conduct of examinations for reducing the chances of postponements of papers due to complaints about mass copying at the examination centres, the onus of making foolproof arrangements for conduct of examinations lies on booth authorities of J&K Board Of School Education (J&K BOSE) and as well as the heads of both Government and Private Schools. Significantly both the Government and private schools have not to be only prepared for conducting the examinations but they have also to be also simultaneously ready for the admissions of students in next higher classes. Though admission processes in Government run schools are hassle free but admission processes in private schools never end in weeks but continue for months together. By all standards of understandabilities it is for the Director School Education Kashmir to make both the examination and admission processes time bound in cooperation and coordination with the authorities of J&K Board Of School Education. The completion of both the examination and admission processes in short time this year without any complaints of misconduct would probably prove detrimental for the shifting of examination session from March-April to October-November.
