J&K’s Mining Department finding Lithium in Reasi district is once more pointer to the fact that Jammu & Kashmir is not just a top tourist destination but it is also equally abundant in natural resources playing a central role in the development of Industries and intensification of commercial activities. While Hydro power potential is the biggest natural resource because of the presence of several water resources in Jammu & Kashmir,  a few other natural resources found in different areas of Jammu & Kashmir include Coal in Kalakote, sapphire at Paddar in Doda district, and limestone mines at Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu Province and Uri in Baramulla district of Kashmir Valley. Experts believe that lithium can be used in the batteries of electric vehicles, laptops, mobile phones and digital cameras.  What matters the most is the fact that maintenance costs of Lithium-ion batters are very low. It has been observed that a rechargeable lithium-ion battery allows electronic devices run on rechargeable batteries to perform at their best. Never forget that in view of the increasing attraction for electric vehicles and lavish use of mobile phones ,laptops and digital cameras the sources of lithium if utilised rightly for batteries of electric appliances lavishly used in the current era of fast changing technological scenario would most probable generated huge employment opportunities for thousands of youth in Jammu & Kashmir where increasing unemployment is a major area of concern for both the Government and as well as the youth .  Automobile engineers are of the view that with the improvements in the charging of Lithium-ion batteries the introduction of electric cars is likely to bring a revolution in the automobile sector in coming years.

“While it is for engineers and scientists to think about steps required to increase the scope for use of lithium in more and more commercial and trading activities, the onus lies for supplementing the efforts of the engineers of  J&K Mining Department lies on the entrepreneurs interested in using lithium for furthering the cause of boosting the commercial and trading activities in automobile and electronic sectors”.

The scientists also believe that drones too also rely on the high power density of lithium-ion batteries. Significantly efforts are also on to create flying vehicles run on lithium-ion batteries. Significantly efforts are also on to create flying vehicles run on lithium-ion batteries. Since the desire of entrepreneurs to do better never ends and as such the trend of increasing the scope for use of any natural resource never end. It is for the engineers and scientists to explore the ways and means for increasing the use of lithium in more and more commercial and trading activities.
