JKTPO organises Export Awareness Workshop for Distt Srinagar

Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) on Monday organized an export awareness workshop for potential exporters in association with Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Department of Posts, FIEO and various other export institutions.
The workshop is in continuation of the planned events to be held across the J&K to promote exports from all districts of Jammu & Kashmir under the District as Export Hub Scheme/ODOP initiative.
The series of the workshops were initiated on the directions of Principal Secretary to Industries & Commerce, PrashantGoyal, this being the ninth district level workshop in a row after Udhampur, Kishtwar, Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua, DodaPulwama, and Anantnag.
The emphasis of the workshop was to boost and support exports from J&K with a focus on developing each district as an export hub under the District as Export Hub/ODOP initiatives. The beneficiaries were briefed regarding the potential of their products for exports, countries to be targeted and procedures of exports.
JKTPO has bought all export agencies/stakeholders to grassroot level through thesedrives. Special focus was given on ODOP products and other focus products of district Srinagar including Paper Machie, Silk Carpet, Walnut wood carving, pashmina shawls etc. The detailed sessions were conducted by the experts on the benefits of exports, the process of getting an Import/Export code, endorsing local products to an international market, credit linkages for exports and credit risk insurance facilities.
A.K. Bhushan, Deputy DGFT, J&K, during his address, apprised the participants of the role of DGFT in international trade. He reflected upon the kind of documentation and procedures necessary for entering the international business/IEC registration and other related issues.
He provided the necessary guidance to the participants to update their knowledge by explaining to them about various Government of India Export-related schemes like MEIS. Many queries were resolved on the spot and various participants intended to get registered for generating their Import/Export codes.
Rakesh Mani, Senior Manager ECGC Delhi, gave details about Credit Risk Insurance and related services for exports and gave a detailed insight on how exporters can safeguard their shipments and money for exports. ECGC Offers insurance protection to exporters against payment risks and other export-related activities including recovering bad debts
Gaurav Gupta, Dy. Director FIEO explained about the benefits of registration on Indian Business Portal, Free Online Business, Easy and Affordable Credit Rating and Compliance with the Government.
YonusGul India Post, Kashmir Region, shared the attributes of portal DhakGharNiryatKendras which act as facilitation center for E-Commerce exports. As per DNK portal exporter with IEC code can export any item weighing around 35 kg to point of destination from point of origin, with proper monitoring and tracking.
Further, the audience was addressed by SahilMahajan, an e-commerce expert and Abinav from Shypmax logistics about the importance, benefits, issues faced related to exports.
The workshop was attended by more than 50 potential exporters and unit holders from District Srinagar.
