J&K Police to organize 33rdPolice Public Mela-2023 on Feb 19 at Jammu, ADGP Armed reviewed the arrangements

Jammu : Arrangements for day long 33rdPolice Public Mela being held in Jammu on 19th February 2023 were on Friday reviewed by the ADGP Armed S.J.M Gillani at a high level police officers meeting held at Armed Police Headquarters (APHQ.
According to a statement issued from APHQ Armed J&K in Jammu the Police Public Mela is being held at Police Parade & Advance Training Ground, (Commonly Known as Gulshan Ground) Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Addressing the meeting, S.J.M Gillani said that Police Public Mela would be inaugurated at 10 a.m. on February 19, 2023 and raffle draw for fabulous prizes would be held at 4 p.m. in the presence of public. He sought reports from the committees constituted for making required arrangements and stressed upon the organizers to make the event a success. He said that the event, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA) is one of the grand events of the organization in which people from all walks of life are participating. The Mela has assumed importance and has brought police and public closer.
The ADGP Armed J&K on this occasion also said that people’s large participation has encouraged the organization to conduct the event regularly in the twin capital cities in Srinagar and Jammu. Products of different regions of the State are put for sale for the general public at the stalls established by different units of the organization. The meeting chaired by S J M Gillani took the stock of all the activities necessary for smooth conduct of Police Public Mela including framing of various committees, distributions of invitation cards, prize distribution, publicity of the event, hosting of banners, preparation of grounds, its layout, installation of departmental/ catering stalls, decoration/ face-lifting of venue, installation of stalls of domestic items/ food stalls, face lifting of VIP gallery, lighting arrangements, arrangements of mobile toilets, dustbins, framing of committees of PWWA for conduct of Tombola, arrangements for drinking water at the venue, Rangoli and putting in place various types of entertainments at the Mela venue including ceremonial police band, orchestra, Cultural Programme/ local folk dance, Jhulas etc.
The ADGP while discussing the arrangements, stressed that all efforts should be made to ensure security in and around the venue. He also discussed other arrangements related to traffic, parking of vehicles and police bandubast. Sale of quality products on reasonable rates should be ensured and rate lists displayed at each stall, said the ADGP Armed. Earlier, DIG Armed Jammu, Nisha Nathyal apprised the house about the overall activities involved for smooth conduct of the event through a visual presentation.
The heads of various committees framed for different activities of the event apprised the ADGP Armed about the preparations being made by them in connection for their respective assignments. Among committee heads, Dr. MeenakshiKotwal Medical Supdt. Police Hospital Jammu also apprised the house about the medical arrangements and awareness programmes to be carried out by the Police Hospital Jammu during the Police Public Mela.The ADGP issued on-spot directions for some significant issues related to successful and safe conduct of the event.
