Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has seized illicit timber and also arrested seven accused persons involved in the commission of crime in District Budgam.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police Station Beerwah received inputs that some timber smugglers are transporting illicit timber in a vehicle bearing registration number JK04H-2155 following which a checkpoint was established at Bonhama crossing and the said vehicle was intercepted.
Stating that during searches 16 logs of illicit timber (deodar) were recovered and 7 persons on board including the driver of the vehicle were arrested on spot and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that the vehicle used for commission of crime has been seized and a case vide FIR No. 18/2023 under relevant sections of law was alsi registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police said that it’s consistent actions against anti-social elements are taken as part of the effort made to keep society free from crime.
