Srinagar : Police in on Monday have seized illicit timber by arresting three accused persons involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Dangiwacha along with officials of Forest Department at a checkpoint established at Batpora intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05-3642 with three persons on board and during checking seized 10Cft of illicit timber from the said vehicle.
Stating that the accused persons involved in the commission of crime were also arrested on spot and identified as Junaid Ahmad Mir S/o Ghulam Hassan Mir, Azhar Ahmad Parra S/o GhulamMohi-u-din Parra and Abdul Latief Mir S/o Abdul Rashid Mir, all the residents of Aadipora Sopore, Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 06/2023 has been registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Dangiwacha& investigation has been taken up.
In the concluding para of it’s statement Police said that the drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure protection of green gold and it’s consistent actions against anti-social elements should reassure the people that efforts are on to keep society free of crime.
