7 drug peddlers arrested in Bla, Ang, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested 7 drug peddlers in Anantnag and Baramulla districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Anantnag, a Police party from Police Station Aishmuqam at a checkpoint established near Exchange crossing Aishmuqam apprehended three drug peddlers and identified them as Arif Hussain Raina S/o Mohammad Afzal Raina, Yawar Ahmad Magray S/o Nazir Ahmad Magary both R/o Ainoo Aishmuqam and Javid Ahmad Merasee S/o Bashir Ahmad Merasee R/o Ishnard Govass Aishmuqam, Stating therein further that during checking, 7Kgs of Charas like substance has been recovered from their possession.
Stating that in a similar action in Baramulla, a police party led by In-charge PP Delina during naka checking at Delina Ghat intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No. DL3CAD-2779 with three persons on board and upon checking recovered 35 grams of Heroin like substance from the possession of the accused identified as Jan Mohammad Lone @Jagawar S/o late Mohd Maqbool Lone R/o Shaheen Mohalla Delina, Nadeem Ahmad Mir S/o Bashir Ahmad R/o Darpora Delina and Maroof Ahmad Khan S/o Mohd Younis Khan R/o Ramgai Uri.
Police in it’s above referred statement also said that in yet another similar action a police party of PP Mirgund during naka checking at Harthrat Pattan intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, Stating therein further that during search, 35 grams of Charas and 2.2Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance concealed in a carrying bag were recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Javid Ahmad Mir S/o Ali Mohammad Mir R/o Chenabal Pattan. Police in it’s statement furthermore said that all the arrested drug peddlers have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody, adding that “cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated”.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement, police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
