2 drug peddlers booked under PIT NDPS Act in Awantipora : Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has booked two drug peddlers under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority in Awantipora.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar Police said that the two drug peddlers have been identified as Tariq Ahmad Sheikh @Patanjali S/o Ghulam Qadir Sheikh R/o Tulbagh Pampore and Javaid Ahmad Dar @Brichi S/o Mohammed Akram Dar R/o Meej Pampore.
Stating that the duo was involved in many NDPS cases, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that despite their involvement in many FIRs, the accused were promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth in Pampore and its adjoining areas, adding therein that cases were duly processed and after obtaining sanctions from the competent authority, the arrested drug peddlers were detained under PIT NDPS act.
Police in the concluding para of the above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated that persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
