Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam and Anantnag districts in South Kashmir and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Kulgam, Police parties from Police Station Qazigund during naka checking at Manigam and Bonigam areas of Kulgam intercepted three suspected persons and upon checking recovered 9 grams of Heroin like substance and cash amount of Rs 22,100/- (proceeds of narcotic crime) from their possession following which they were identified as Javid Ahmad Dar S/o Mohd Shaban Dar R/o Bonigam, Azad Ahmad NaikooS/o Sona-ulla Naikoo R/o Nassu Qazigund and Mashkoor Rasool Itoo S/o Ghulam Rasool Itoo R/o Naugam Banihal.
Stating that the above named accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.
Police said that in a similar action in Anantnag district Police on receiving specific inputs deputed a police party from Police Station Bijbehara which at a special checkpoint established near Fruit Mandi Jablipora Bijbehara intercepted a person identified as Sayar Ahmad Wani S/o Gull Mohammad WaniR/o Wopzan Bijbehara and during searches recovered Codeine Phosphate bottles from his possession.
Stating that the above named accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s bove referred statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 21/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Bijbehara has been registered and investigation has been also taken up. In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
