6 drug peddlers arrested in South Kashmir, contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested 6 drug peddlers in Kulgam, Shopian&Ganderbal districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Okay Kulgam, intercepted a suspicious person carrying a nylon bag who on seeing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, Stating therein further that during searches 50grams of Charas and 2kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat S/o Late Bashir Ahmad Bhat R/o Okay Kulgam and ge was subsequently shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police said that in a similar action Shopian district, a Police party of PS Zainapora along with CRPF during routine patrolling at T-Chowk area of Zainapora intercepted and apprehended three suspicious persons, Stating therein further that upon checking 10grams of Heroin & cash amount of Rs18000/= (proceeds of narcotic crime) was recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Yawar Ahmad Bhat S/o Ab Razaq Bhat R/o Reshipora, Muneeb Ah Bhat S/o Abdul Rashid R/o Wachi and Adil Ah Sheikh S/o Bashir Ah R/o Zainapora who been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police furthermore said that in in Ganderbal, a police party led by SHO PS Lar under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Ganderbal Gh Hassan at a checkpoint established at Repora intercepted 2 suspicious persons who on seeing police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully by alert police party, Stating therein further contraband substances were recovered from their possession and they were identified as Mohammad Faiz S/o Mohammad Ayoob R/o Rampur UP and Mohammad Dilshad S/o Mohammad Ramzan R/o Meerapur UP.
Stating that the above named accused were shifted to Police Station where they remain in custory, Police said that it has accordingly, registered a cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
