Distt Admin G’bal organizes Water Quality Workshop for Jal Shakti employees

Ganderbal: As part of ongoing “Water Quality Assurance campaign” in the district, the PHE Rural Water Supply Division Ganderbal/ Srinagar on Wednesday conducted a training workshop for all Water Treatment plant employees of district Ganderbal and Rural Srinagar in the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat, Ganderbal.
The program was presided over by the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani along with Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Ganderbal, SamiullahBeigh.
The program was attended by all AEEs, JEs , Inspectors and nearly 300 permanent and Daily waged employees of RWS Ganderbal.
At the outset, the participants were made aware about the importance of conducting the program. They were acquainted with the disinfection methods and efficacy of bleaching powder, use of alum and its dosage, benefits and techniques of sedimentation and detention.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC said that clean drinking water, improved sanitation and hygiene leads to better public health, especially of children and women, who are more vulnerable to water borne diseases and urged the participants to strive relentlessly to provide quality potable tap water to every home.
Highlighting the importance of regular water quality testing, the ADDC stressed upon the participants to ensure treated water is supplied to the people as untreated water leads to various water borne diseases which is a criminal act and asked the Executive Engineer to fix the responsibility at all levels.
Meanwhile, a practical testing demo was given by the staff of the district lab of all physico-chemical parameters using Field Testing Kits.
Superintending Engineer Jal Shakti PHE Er. Irfanul Islam discussed technical aspects of water purification and briefed the audiences about the application of latest techniques in water quality measures in J&K.
Executive Engineer Jal Shakti gave an overall water quality scenario in the district and areas of improvement.
