Jammu : With an aim to provide financial succour to the families of the Police personnel who have passed away while in service, the Director General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh on Wednesday sanctioned rupees 3.48 crore as Special Welfare Relief in favour dependents/legal heirs of deceased Police personnel/SPOs. While as rupees 55 lakh has also been sanctioned as ex-gratia relief in favour of legal heirs/dependents of a martyred police official and martyred SPO.
According to a statement issued from Police Media Centre, PHQ J&K Jammu the DGP has sanctioned Rs 38 lac ex-gratia relief to NoK of slain SgCt Safiullah Qadri and Rs 17 lax ex-gratia relief to NoK of slain SPO Mohd Tahir Khan killed in different militant attacks.
Stating that DGP has through different orders sanctioned Special welfare relief of Rs 22 lacs each in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased ASI Krishan Lal, HC Ravinder Singh, HC Manzoor Ahmad, HC Rajnish Khajuria, HC Mehrajud-ud-din, HC Ajit Kumar, HC Ranjeet Singh, HC Balbir Singh , HC Naresh Kumar, SgCt. Imtiyaz Ahmad, Sgct Rattan Paul, SgCt Mohd Quyoom, SgCt Waseem Iqbal, Ct. Liyaqat Ali and Kamal Sing.
The DGP, according to the above referred statement, has also sanctioned Rs 6 lacs each as Special Welfare Relief to dependents/legal heirs of deceased SPOs Mohan Lal, Rajat Choudry and Wali Mohommad. The deceased personnel/SPOs have passed away due to illness/ natural death while in service. Rs one lac each has already been paid to the families of deceased Police personnel for performing their last rites through their concerned units. The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds.
