Involvement Of Parents In Education: A Big Challenge

Future belongs to children and the central role of parents in shaping the future of their children matters the most. The Prime Minister’s recent program “Pariksha Pe Charch” is by all standards of understandabilities an inspiration to parents seriously concerned about the education and henceforth the future of their children. Be it private tuitioning or education in schools the parents have a central in choosing preferences and priorities for both education in schools and as well as private tuitioning.  Though some people believe that involvement of parents in education of their children is not good for the educational development of children but irrefutable fact is that the children qualifying highly prestigious combined competitive examinations like NEET and Civil Services examinations give credit of their success in such examinations equally to the role of their parents and teachers which is sufficient enough to indicate that parents and teachers are always instrumental in the achievement of the qualifiers of even the most prestigious competitive examinations. So when children themselves feel good about the involvement of their parents in their education there is no scope for others to put question marks on the involvement of parents in the education of their children, be it schooling or private tuitioning. What matters the most is the fact that the involvement in the preferences and priorities of the schooling of children gives their parents a sense of satisfaction and when children achieve that for which they aspire their parents also get the sense of achievement.

“It is not easy  for the parents to develop a friendly atmosphere for motivating children to share their experiences with them as conflict in the perceptions of parents and children has been noticed in most of the cases and it is for the parents to resolve such conflicts of perceptions with great human wisdom and motivation. So the role of parents in the education of children matters the most”.

Since child care is a major concern amid technological intervention in the education of children, the involvement of parents in the education of their children is as important as is of teachers. Since the irrefutable fact is that parents and teachers are contributing equally in the mental and physical upbringing of children, the involvement of parents in the both educational and physical development of children can be best facilitated by teachers. Ultimately the motive of involvement of parents in the education of their children is not to bring them (children) under stress for academic achievements but to make the children bold enough to share their feelings about the teaching –learning process and outdoor activities with their parents. It is not easy  for the parents to develop a friendly atmosphere for motivating children to share their experiences with them as conflict in the perceptions of parents and children has been noticed in most of the cases and it is for the parents to resolve such conflicts of perceptions with great human wisdom and motivation. So the role of parents in the education of children matters the most
