Drug peddler arrested in B’gam, contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party during naka checking at Chewdara crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party.
Stating that during searches 1.1Kgs of Charas like powder was recovered from the possession of the said drug peddler identified as Tanveer Ahmad Ganie S/o Mohd Yousuf Ganie R/o Sadipora Beerwah following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 13/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has been taken up.
In the concluding para of the abovec quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated that pople found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law.
