PM’s Interest In Snow Cricket, Winter Games

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Statement on engagement of youth with “Snow Cricket” in Syedabad area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district shows the keen interest not only the Central Government but the Prime Minister of country himself is taking in nurturing the sports talent of the youth in Jammu & Kashmir. The broader message of the Prime Minister’s remark over snow cricket in Pulwama is that the winter tourism is not just about skiing at the ski resorts like Gulmarg but the involvement of youth with the winter games in the remotest of the remote areas of Kashmir Valley. Prime Minister’s few words of praise for Kashmiri youth showing interest in snow cricket can generate more interest in snow cricket among the youth not only in upper reaches but also in plain of Kashmir Valley. After the Prime Minister’s statement on the interest of youth of Syedabad area of Pulwama district in snow cricket it is for the J&K’s Youth Services & Sports and Tourism Departments to make snow cricket a part of winter games organised annually by the Winter Games Federation Of India in collaboration with J&K Tourism Department at Gulmarg the key ski resort in Kashmir , More better it would be for the future of winter games in Kashmir if both J&K’s Youth Services & Sports and Tourism Departments organise winter games in the plains of Kashmir with the spirit of engaging more and more youth with the winter games that are held annually in Kashmir Valley. Since none else than the Prime Minister of the country has called the snow cricket an extension of “Khelo India” movement, the J&K’s Youth Services & Sports and Tourism Departments should not take much time in including snow cricket in the winter games which are annually held under the aegis of Winter Games Federation Of India. Since the administrative secretary of J&K’s Youth Services & Sports department is also heading the Tourism Department, the initiative of making snow cricket part of winter games if taken with seriousness right in the earnest is unlikely to take much time right now.

“Taking initiatives for cricket in Kashmir is good for the future of cricket in Jammu & Kashmir but Prime Minister invoking the engagement of youth with snow cricket with a remark that snow in Kashmir captivates millions of hearts in the country shows his interest in making snow cricket part of winter games in Kashmir.

Prime Minister hinting that efforts are on to search young players in cricket for facilitating their entry into “ Team India” is an indication that Central Government has the plans to extend full sport to J&K Government in any initiative that it may take for nurturing the sports talent of J&K youth. Since non else than the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha himself went to witness a cricket contest in downtown area of Srinagar last summer, the message went out to the youth that Government is keen to take more initiatives for nurturing the sports talent of the youth in Jammu & Kashmir. Taking initiatives for cricket in Kashmir is good for the future of cricket in Jammu & Kashmir but Prime Minister invoking the engagement of youth with snow cricket with a remark that snow in Kashmir captivates millions of hearts in the country shows his interest in making snow cricket part of winter games in Kashmir.
