DC monitors Snow clearance operation, restoration of essential services at Pulwama

DM Stresses on restoration of essential services; reviews status of essential commodities & healthcare services available in district

Pulwama: In order to deal with the challenges posed by current inclement weather conditions and heavy Snowfall, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer-Ul-Haq Choudharyon Monday took a comprehensive review of Snow clearance operation, power & water supply, availability of essentials and other services.
The DC stressed on the restoration of essential services, and reviewed the status of essential commodities and healthcare services available in the district.
It was informed that there is a sufficient stock of essential commodities available in the district including LPG, ration, vegetables and other essentials.
The DC while informing about the Snow clearance operation in the district said that District Administration is on toes and has pressed all men and machinery into service to clear all roads by Monday evening.
He said that almost all roads in the district are being cleared and thrown open for traffic, however the continuous Snowfall is posing certain challenges in the Snow clearance operation.
The DC informed that the main District roads including Pulwama-Shadimarg-Keller road, Pulwama-Awantipora road, Pulwama-Srinagar road, Awantipora-Tral road and Pampore- Khrew road were cleared by MED. He said, every effort is being made to keep the Pulwama-Sangerwani Road open for traffic movement in case of more Snowfall during night.
The DC directed all officers and field functionaries to abide by the Snow Clearance Action Plan and prioritize Snow clearance from all roads leading to essential installations including Health institutions, Hospitals, Government Offices on priority basis.
He exhorted upon all the sub divisional heads to visit all the grey areas for smooth and hassle free services, besides directing them to play a proactive role in resolving public issues.
Choudhary informed the public that Tehsildars and SHOs can be contacted as first response in case of any emergency and support.
The DC said the District Disaster Management Control Room is functioning 24×7 to take calls from the public any time, besides Departments particularly the Health Deptt, have already established Control Rooms for immediate response.
The DC directed the officials of all line departments to work in mission mode besides coordinating with each other to ensure uninterrupted supply of the essential items and services in the district.
He also directed Tehsildars, officials of R&B, Jal Shakti, PDD and other line departments to remain stationed at their locations and ensure prompt delivery of essential items and services to the public and address emergency demands with utmost preparedness.
AC Legal Metrology, DO FSS, FSOs were directed to remain present at their designated locations and conduct regular market checking to keep check on hoarding and profiteering.
While reviewing the status of the power supply scenario in the district, the DC directed the Power Development Department (PDD) to take all required measures to ensure that power supply is completely restored within 24 hours in rural areas and 12 hours in urban areas.
While reviewing the Health services in the district, the DC emphasized on regular supply of essential medicines to the needy patients.
Moreover, on the directions of DC Pulwama, a team of Officers headed by ADDC Pulwama, Dr Sheikh Abdul Aziz visited Dist. Hospital Pulwama and reviewed healthcare facilities. The team also checked the attendance of employees (Medical as well as para-medical staff).
