NH 144A Widening Project: DDC Rajouri inspects progress at different constructions sites

DDC also reviews status of work on SDH building at Sunderbani,Mother &Child Care Hospital at Lamberi

Rajouri: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal on Friday inspected the progress of work at different construction sites on the Jammu- Rajouri–Poonch National Highway (NH144A) falling in the district. He also inspected the progress on additional building of the Sub-district Hospital at Sunderbani and Mother and Child Care Hospital at Lamberi.
OC 58 RCC, Major Manju Nath; AC Defence, Saleem Qureshi and other concerned officers from Border Road Organisation accompanied him during the inspection of Highway work.
The widening project for the existing road comprises 8 packages with the first package starting from Akhnoor. The DDC inspected the progress on widening of road under Package III, Package IV and Package V. The DDC visited the starting point of Package 05 where a tunnel of around 700 meters is to be constructed. The concerned officer from BRO informed that men and machinery has been mobilised and the work on the tunnel would start soon. Under Package V, the earth cutting is in progress and the work would be completed within the specified period of time.
While inspecting the progress on the widening of NH144A at different sites, the DDC directed the concerned officers to mobilize men and machinery to ensure completion of the project within the already set deadline.
Taking note of the issue of payment of structures, the DDC asked the concerned officers to ensure timely payment of structures to the rightful claimants.
He also asked the concerned officers to work to maintain interdepartmental coordination and sort out issues, if any to complete the project in set timelines so that necessary benefits are provided to the general public.
The DDC also directed to maintain quality of work and warned against any laxity in this regard. Meanwhile, the District Development Commissioner Rajouri visited Sunderbani subdivision and inspected the progress on the construction of additional building of Sub-district Hospital being executed by PWD(R&B).
The ExEn PWD (R&B) Nowshera, Bikram Singh informed that the estimated cost of the project is Rs 18.57 crore and the work is in progress and would be completed soon. He also informed that the top floor of the building and basement would be completed by 31 Ist of March this year. The additional SDH building has the capacity of fifty beds.
While inspecting the services being provided to the patients at SDH Sunderbani, he asked the medical staff to ensure that best health care facilities are provided to the patients so that they don’t face any inconveniences while receiving treatment.
He also checked the biometric attendance of the medical staff and maintained that no laxity would be allowed regarding punctuality in Government offices. Later, he inspected the progress of work on the Mother and Child Care Hospital Lamberi, being executed by the PWD (R&B). He was informed that the estimated cost of the project is Rs 48 crores and the ground levelling work is currently in progress. It is expected that the building will be completed in three years. The Deputy Commissioner said that the construction of the MCH Hospital in Lamberi would provide easy access to specialised Maternal & Child Health Care Services to the local population.
