Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party from Police Station Bijbehara at a checkpoint established near Fruit Mandi Jablipora intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, Stating therein further that during checking officers recovered Brown sugar like substance from the possession of the said accused identified as Fasil Ashraf ZargarS/o Mohammad Ashraf ZargarR/o Baba Mohalla Bijbehara who has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Bijbehara has registered and further investigation has also been set into motion, Police
in the concluding para of the above referred statement appealedd people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, Stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are take as part of the efforts made to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
