Baramulla, Bandipora: The Jammu and Kashmir government has established a Commission for effective and timely resolution of grievances of consumers with an aim to protect the interests of the Consumers and to redress their grievances and also to settle their disputes.
According to an official statement, the government has established the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission at Govt. Quarter B3 KhawajaBaghBaramulla with an additional Jurisdiction of the District Bandipora as well.
President of the Commission, PeerzadaQousar Hussain appealed the general public to approach the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Baramulla either personally or through their respective counsel for filing of their complaints and redressal of their grievances
Peerzada said the empowerment of the consumers has been accorded the highest priority by the government by enacting the Consumer Protection Act 2019, to protect against the marketing of products that are hazardous to life and property.
QousarHussain said since consumer awareness is essential to help the Consumers to exercise their rights, the Govt, in this regard, has been conducting a wide multimedia awareness campaign titled JagoGrahakJago through which Consumers can learn about the fraudulent practices and how to tackle them.
“The consumer needs to be informed about the quality, quantity, standard, purity and price of goods, so as to safeguard his interests against the unfair trade practices and services,” Peerzada added.
