National Girl Child Day 2023 celebrated at Kishtwar

Kishtwar: To motivate the people to provide equal opportunity to girls at home and at their workplace, the National Girl Child Day 2023 was Tuesday celebrated in the district Kishtwar under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) and Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
An impressive function was organized by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with ICDS and other departments. A variety of activities were held on the occasion, including motivational lectures on the theme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ a Nukkad Natak by the girl students, besides a song by child singer Samridhi Sen.
Additional District Development Commissioner Sham Lal was the chief guest, while SDM Paddar, Dr Rishi Sharma was the guest of Honour.
The programme was organised by the District Social Welfare department in collaboration with Officials of One Stop Centre & District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and Mission Shakti.
District Social Welfare Officer, Zubair Ahmed, Nodal Officer JKRLM, female SHG members, girl Students, Tehsil Social welfare Officers, , besides prominent female personalities were also present on the occasion.
At the outset, the DSWO welcomed the chief guest and highlighted the importance of the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” Campaign.He talked about the significance of the National Girl Child Day celebrated every year on January 24.
The Speakers highlighted the achievements of girls in different fields of life, besides highlighting measures taken by the government for social security and protection of rights of womenfolk.
Several meritorious girls were also felicitated by the chief guest in presence of other dignitaries.
A signature Campaign was also organised wherein participants marked their support for the education and gender equality.
In his address, the ADDC apprised the girl students about the various women and girls centric initiatives and welfare schemes launched by the government. He also highlighted the importance of education of the girl child for the socio-economic uplift and equality of women folk.
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Pledge was administered to the participants on the occasion and the programme concluded with vote of thanks by the DSWO.
