Due to the presence of vital components of food in the vegetables. Doctors, dieticians suggest green leafy vegetables to the patients with different disorders. Green leafy vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals, etc. Vegetables are being used throughout the world on a daily basis. We have different vegetables. Some we import from other countries, or we get them from the other states of the country. Some vegetables are being cultivated here in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Today the department of horticulture used advanced techniques to tackle the shortage of fresh vegetables and made hard efforts to provide seasonal vegetable saplings to the growers promptly. Today in this article I am going to let you know the health benefits of carrots. Carrot is a cylindrical, conical shaped root vegetable. The part covered under the soil is edible. Carrot has very little sugar content so it tastes a bit sweet. Carrots are widely used as salads with other vegetables like cabbage, radish, tomatoes, green chilies, beet root, cucumber etc. carrots can be eaten raw as well. Due to the presence of a number of beneficial nutrients in it carrots have a great market value in all seasons. The botanical name of carrot is as (Daucus carota) and it belongs to the Apiaceae family.
Benefits of carrots: Carrots are rich in vitamin-A. Chemical name of vitamin-A is Retinol. Carrots are being considered as good for eye health. Carrots can improve your bowel movement and respite you from constipation due to the presence of fibers in it. Carrot can improve your immune system as it contains vitamin-C. Carrots are good for heart health as they contain antioxidants. All the antioxidants are good for heart health. It keeps your blood pressure on a normal scale due to the presence of potassium. Carrots can control our blood sugar level as carrots are packed with vitamin-A and beta-carotene which can lower your diabetes risk. As we know antioxidants fights with free radicals in the body and keeps you away from the lethal disease that is cancer. Cancer nowadays is called CA.
Suggestion: it is well said that ‘’health is wealth’’. We should not compromise with our health. Our future plans, our dreams, our hopes are linked with our health. We do not go for regular medical check-ups, avoid self- medication, and avoid unhealthy junk food items. We should eat raw vegetables with meals and with dinner. The department of horticulture should keep in consideration the demands of the growers and have to cater to each and every possible facility.
