Anti-encroachment drive: 4200 Kanals of State/ Kahcharai land retrieved in 3 days at Ang

Anantnag: The District Administration Anantnag has removed encroachment on more than 4200 kanals of state/ kahcharai land in the last three days, totaling more than 40000 kanals of land retrieved so far from encroachers in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, DrBasharatQayoom said that encroached lands in various tehsils have been identified and the anti-encroachment drive shall continue in full force. He said that focus is on retrieving large chunks of encroached land which can subsequently be utilized for public purposes. He said that nearly 50% of the encroached land stands retrieved and another 50% will be retrieved soon.
Giving details, it was given out that in tehsil Anantnag nearly 1600 kanals of state land and 1550 kanals of Kahcharie land has been retrieved. Similarly, in tehsil Bijbehara, 2887 kanals of state land and nearly 1511 kanals of Kahcharie land have been retrieved till date. The teams of revenue officials, led by Tehsildars are continuously removing encroachments and the remaining encroachments will be removed in the coming days.
It is in place to mention that in the last two days, nearly 950 kanals of Kahcharie land and 500 kanals of state land have been retrieved in Anantnag sub division alone.
In Pahalgam sub division, nearly 7300 kanals of state land and around 4000 kanals of kahcharie land have been retrieved. In Kokernag sub division, more than 2100 kanals of state land and nearly 2000 kanals of Kahcharie land have been retrieved. In sub-division Dooru, 5500 kanals of state land and 5400 kanals of Kahcharie land have been retrieved from encroachers.
The DC appealed to people to cooperate with revenue officials in removing encroachments. He said that directions have been passed to revenue teams to ensure that notice boards are displayed on retrieved lands. He said that he has also issued directions for initiating legal action against anybody obstructing the functionaries from performing their duties.
It is worth mentioning here to mention that 305 kanals in tehsil Pahalgam, 389 kanals in tehsil Bijbehara and 336 kanals in Tehsil Kokernag were removed in a single day.
