5 gamblers held in Bla, stake money also seized: Police

Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday while acting tough against social crimes have arrested 5 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession in Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here, police said that while acting on specific inputs about gambling activities at Chennad Delina, a police party led by IC PP Delina raided the specific site and arrested 3 gamblers on the spot who have been identified as Gh Nabi Bazaz S/o Gh Qadir R/o Nasimbagh Sopore, Naveed Nabi Bhat S/o Gh Nabi Bhat R/o Khawajabagh and Gh Hassan Bhat S/o Mohd Zaman R/o Shiapora Delina, Stating therein further that officers have seized stake money of Rs. 2,320/- and playing cards from the gamblers.
Police in it’s above referred statement also said that in a similar action a police party led by IC PP Mirgund raided the gambling site at Rambail garh and arrested three gamblers on the spot who have been identified as Adil Ahmad Khan son of Mohd Ayoob Khan resident of Matipora A/P Singhpora Pattan and Shahzad Ahmad Malik son of Gh Ahmad Malik resident of SinghporaPattan, Stating therein further that officers have seized stake money of ₹ 4,000/- and playing cards from the gamblers. Stating that police accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
