Teaching Skills At Coaching Centres

Increasing tendency among students to pursue coaching despite completion of syllabus is implicitly and explicitly giving an indication that besides lack of dedication and commitment better teaching skills also attract students towards coaching centres in Kashmir Valley like Jammu division and many other states and union territories of the country. Since ban on private tuitioning by Government teachers has not in any way reduced the increasing tendency for private tuitioning at coaching centres , it is apparently clear that tutors at coaching centres attract students obviously because of demonstrating better teaching skills to attract more and more students towards coaching centres. Since the general impression brewing up among the people is that tutors demonstrate better teaching skills at coaching centres because of their commitment and dedication, the attractive pay and perks are obviously responsible for dedication and commitment  of teachers at coaching centres . Though trained teachers found mostly at Government schools also get more attractive perks than the private schools and coaching centres but dedication and commitment amongst teachers is not as high at Government schools as it is at private schools and coaching centres. Though finally it comes to the issue of accountability of teachers at Government schools but questions are raised over the basic teaching infrastructure found missing in most of the Government run schools. The complaints about lack of infrastructure in Government schools are though galore almost in all the districts of Jammu & Kashmir but it is also an irrefutable fact that some teachers are suitable for general class room teaching and some for coaching of students as most of the coaching centres hire tutors from other parts of the country due to their suitability for coaching of student for NEET like tests.

“Amid growing attraction for coaching amongst both the students and as well as the parents the challenge for both the Government and as well as private schools is to cultivate such a better atmosphere of  teaching-learning practices in the premises of schools which can reduce the tendencies of coaching among students across Jammu & Kashmir. Finally the interest to cultivate an atmosphere of quality teaching at the premiseses of schools matters the most”.

While even educationists of repute won’t  endorse the general perception that all trained post graduates working as teachers either  at Government or private schools are not possessing all the teaching skills required for 100% perfect coaching of students, the suitability of teachers for general teaching and coaching differs from School to School . Amid growing attraction for coaching amongst both the students and as well as the parents the challenge for both the Government and as well as private schools is to cultivate such a better atmosphere of  teaching-learning practices in the premises of schools which can reduce the tendencies of coaching among students across Jammu & Kashmir. Finally the interest to cultivate an atmosphere of quality teaching at the premiseses of schools matters the most.
