2-drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam & Anantnag, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Kulgam and Anantnag districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here police said that a Police party of Police Station Qaimoh at a checkpoint established at Naibasti, Qaimoh intercepted a suspicious person identified as Bilal Ahmad Mantoo S/o Bashir Ahmad Mantoo R/o Buchroo and upon checking officers recovered 130 grams of Brown Sugar and Digital Weighing Machine from his possession who was arrested and shifted to police station.
Police in it’s above referred statement also said that Police Station Mattan received a specific inputs through reliable sources according to which one person namely Gh Mohi Ud Din Wani S/o Ali Mohammad Wani R/o Naibasti Hutmurrah Mattan was reported to have indulged in drug peddling and hoarded contraband substance in his residential house.
Police in it’s statement further said that on receipt of this information, a Police party of PS Mattan along with concerned Executive Magistrate raided the said location and during searches recovered 500 grams of Charas Powder was recovered from the said house following which the said accused was arrested and shifted to police station. Police in it’s statement furthermore said it has registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and reiterated that persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police in it’s statement also reassured people that efforts are on to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
