In a statement issued on Monday the Chairman JKTJAC Saleem Sagar has said that such good steps will ensure well-being of young generation and will make them civilised adults. Protecting youngsters from substance abuse will save them from the risk of health disorders and will decrease the suicidal tendency in youth. Besides that such steps will decrease the frequency of social evils and criminal activities which are mainly end results of drug menace.
While hailing the move, Saleem Sagar has appealed the authorities particularly Chief Secretary J&K Arun Kumar Mehta and Principal Secretary School Education Department J&K Shri Alok Kumar that in each district one Educational institution should be designated as counselling centre for such identified students where proper care and counselling should take place, in which separate hostal facilities would be provided for boys and girls.
It may be recalled here that School Education Department (SED) in a recent communication has asked the Heads of Institutions (HOIs) to identify the students involved in drug addiction activities for providing care and counseling to them. HOIs have also been directed to conduct surveys for mapping of shops within the periphery of 100 yards of Education Institutions and identify the shops selling cigarettes and other ill effective substances.
