Shopian : The District Election Office Shopianon Friday held an awareness camp at HiraporaPanchayat of Shopian.
The camp was attended by locals, officials of rural development departments, PEBOs and Assembly BLOs.
The ongoing camps are meant to create mass awareness to enhance the pace of enrollment in the ongoing Panchayat Electoral roll revision.
During the camp, a survey of a few households was also conducted to ascertain whether the PEBOs have reached the families or not.
The team headed by Deputy District Election Officer, Jahanger Ahmad has covered all the blocks and a number of Panchayats so far during which thousands of people were educated about the process of registrations, timelines and its importance.
The district has so far recorded around 19000 new additions and it is expected that 5000 to 10000 more may be added by 18th January, which is the last date for filing claims and objections.
