Block Diwas: People brave biting cold to participate in public outreach Prog at Ang

Anantnag: As part of weekly Block Diwas, Public Outreach programmes were here on Wednesday held at 3 locations in Anantnag viz. Govt Polytechnic, Larkipora, Town Hall Qazigund and Block HQ Khoveripora.
At Govt Polytechnic, Larkipora, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom presided over the event.
The event witnessed massive public participation.
The DC while interacting with the public said that Block Diwas is a unique platform for people to raise their grievances and for the departments to redress these issues. He highlighted the importance of grievance redressal mechanisms in an administrative setup and said that the large participation of people is a manifestation of their belief in the working of this grievance redressal mechanism.
Several grievances were aired by the participating people on the occasion. Among them, the main grievances include Animal Husbandry Unit at Kuchaypora, road widening, macadamisation of interior roads of Larkipora, macadamisation of A.K Pora link road, widening of road from main bazar to Bonpora, Kumar Mohalla road and Jamia masjid road, replacement of damaged electric poles, ambulance for NTPHC Larkipora, lady doctor at NTPHC Larkipora, full time NT for Larkipora and removal of encroachments around Polytechnic College among others.
The DC while listening keenly to the grievances of the people directed the revenue officials for demarcation of land around the Govt Polytechnic College besides the KPDCL were directed to replace the damaged poles immediately.
Later, the DC also visited NTPHC Fatehpora and took stock of the execution work. The concerned agency was directed to handover the building to the Health Department within a week. He also visited the hostel facility at GP Larkipora which is under construction and shall be completed prior to the stipulated timeline.
The DC was accompanied by JD Planning, SDM Dooru, CMO, ACD, ACP, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti and KPDCL, Tehsildars, BDO among others.
Block Diwas was also held at Town Hall Qazigund where Additional District Development Commissioner, Bashir Ahmad Wani listened to the grievances of the people. The ADDC issued directions to the representatives of various departments present on the occasion for time bound redressal of grievances raised.
The ADDC later inspected several works in Block Qazigund. He inquired about the progress of under execution works and was assured that all works will be completed before the end of the present fiscal.
Block Diwas was held at Block Headquarter Khoveripora where Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat presided over the event.
People in large numbers had gathered to register their grievances and were assured by the ADC that their grievances will be redressed. He said that men and machinery have been deployed for snow clearance in case of snowfall.
